The beautiful South Hams village of Stokenham.

Close to Torcross, Slapton Sands and Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve.  The Ley is the largest freshwater lake in the south west of England.  The Ley is a 200 acre freshwater lake formed after the ice age, some twenty thousand years ago.  It is seperated from the sea by only a narrow stretch of shingle, surrounded by stunning scenery which attracts visitors from all over the world, be it for scientific, educational or recreational purposes.  There are endless attractions and places to explore in and around the area of South Hams.  This really is the ideal base to explore South Devon.   There are all different types of activities of all ages for all of the family to enjoy.

 

Stokenham village is a thriving local community with being an excellent choice for your holiday.  You have the wonderful parish church of St Michael which is stunning and dates back to the early 14th Century.  The village is surrounded by such beautiful scenery, endless paths and walks.  Sample the old inns, serving wonderful locally produced food.  You really are made to feel at home.  You also have use of the emense village green which covers over 2 acres, grass land trees and benches to rest.  All located exactly opposite the cottage, with the most stunning and beautiful views.

 

Coast/Beach - Slapton Sands/ Slapton Ley within 1 mile of the cottage (beautiful coastal foot paths) which is just so fabulous, a must for anyone to see and walk.

 

Golf
Golf at Thurlestone, Bigbury and Dartmouth.

 

Water Sports
The fabulous sheltered cove 'Blackpool Sands 10 minutes drive towards Dartmouth, caters for all you water sports fanatics, or an ideal place to spend a lazy day taking in the sun or simply the beautiful Devon sea breeze.

 

Special interest holidays
Horse riding is available near Kingsbridge as are many other activities. If walking is your thing then you will be in heaven walking the coastal path for miles.

 

Travel
Nearest airport is Bristol about 1½ hour by car. Plymouth is 40 mins away.
